Fall is officially here! Also commonly referred to as Autumn, Fall is known for being “The Season of the Harvest”, since it is the time when Spring crops are yielded. It’s the season for mild days, cool nights, bonfires, caramel apples–the list goes on. Many find Fall to be their favorite season as it is the bridge between summer fun and holiday preparations. 

Below I have compiled a list of family-friendly activities that are perfect for Fall! Check them out:

1.Apple-picking. When people think of the Fall season, one of the first things that comes to mind is apples! Apple-picking is one of the most popular activities to do in the Fall and furthermore, it is a great experience to share with you family. Take some time out to visit your local orchard and roam the beautiful fields picking apples from off of the apple trees. Make the experience even more fun by challenging members of your family to see who can find the largest apple. Afterwards, go home and use the apples to make some of your favorite apple recipes. Ideas may include apple cider, apple pie, caramel apples, apple crisp, apple fritters, etc.

2. Bonfires. A backyard bonfire is a Fall activity that the whole family can enjoy–and best of all, you don’t even have to leave your house. Before organizing a bond fire, check with your local police department in order to ensure that residential bonfires and permitted in your area. They will also be able to tell you what safety measures should be taken if they are permitted. Be sure to assemble to fire pit safely and have an adult start and manage the fire. During the bonfire, fun activities may include telling fun or scary stories, roasting hot dogs, making s’mores, singing tunes, etc. As an extra measure of caution, NEVER leave the fire unattended and encourage onlookers not to get too close.

3. Pumpkin Patch. Pumpkins are another thing that often comes to mind whenever people think of Fall. The round, orange fruit is a staple of both the Fall season and Halloween. A visit to the pumpkin patch is a yearly tradition for a lot of family. Most pumpkin patches open around mid-September and stay open throughout the Fall. At the pumpkin patch, not only are you able to pick out your own pumpkins, but most of them have a wide-range of other activities geared towards kids and families in general. These activities often include hay rides, pumpkin carving, corn mazes, etc.
